How It Works

Measuring your foot

Shoe sizing is ultimately based on foot length. To measure yours, stand on a sheet of paper, mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe, then measure the distance in centimeters or inches. Measure in the afternoon (feet swell during the day) and use the larger foot if they differ.

The sizing systems
  • US & UK use a "barleycorn" scale (1/3 inch per size). US sizes run roughly one size larger than UK sizes for adults.
  • EU uses the Paris point (2/3 cm per size), so EU numbers increase by about 0.66 cm per size.
  • cm / inches refer to the actual foot length the shoe is designed to fit — the most universal reference.
